This is Soukous! Soukous, as played by one of the hottest guitarists on the planet, Diblo Dibala who was born in Zaire in 1954. He moved to Kinshasa in 1960 and by the time he was 15, he was playing guitar in Franco's TPOK band.

In 1979, Diablo left Africa and went to Belgium and France. He played a rented guitar and washed dishes to make money. He had his first serious hit in 1981 with the band Kanda Bongo Man.
He formed his own band, Loketo (which means hips...as in shake your...) This piece is with Loketo and is called Super K.
Diblo and Loketo became one of busiest recording bands in France as the Soukous music scene exploded. Loketo gradually became his present band. Diblo Dibala and Matchatcha are performing all over the world and will be performing in NYC atglobalFEST 2011, the World Music Showcase which kicks off at Webster Hall on January 9, 2011.
