More on this story

Lunar New Year comes to a close Thursday. The end of the 15-day holiday period is celebrated with a Lantern Festival, which includes colorful lantern lightings, riddle games and sticky rice balls.

These Lunar New Year traditions, along with lion dances and fireworks, which drive away evil spirits, give Asians the chance to spend time with cherished family members, share gifts and enjoy cultural foods.

The Crow Collection After Dark presents its take on Lunar New Year with glow-in-the-dark dragon and lion dances, illuminated lanterns, arts activities and more from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday.

Here’s the schedule: 6 to 8 p.m. — music by harpist Anita Hu and arts activities such as Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting; 7 p.m. — concert by the Four Seasons Choral Society and Chinese Orchestra; 8 to 9 p.m. — lion and dragon parade and kung fu demonstrations; 9 to 10:30 p.m. — Chinese fortune telling; and 10 to 11:30 p.m. — beer samplings and karaoke with DJ Mark Ridlen.

Admission is free.

The museum is at 2010 Flora St. in Dallas. Call 214-979-6430 or visit www.crowcollection.org.
