Ron Sexsmith at SSUC

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Ron Sexsmith, with guest Ash Koley, performs an all-ages show at the Sydenham Street United Church Thursday, March 3. Doors open at 7 p.m., show 8 p.m.

Double bill at SSUC

The Live Wire Music Series presents a blockbuster double-bill featuring New York City's gifted singer/songwriter Lucy Kaplansky together with Canadian folk music icon James Keelaghan, Saturday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Sydenham St. United Church.

Tickets: $20 in advance, Brian's Record Option, Tara Natural Foods and Renaissance Music, or $25 at the door.

The Tender Land

Artistic Director Mark Sirett and the Cantabile Men's and Women's Choruses welcome one of Ontario's finest chamber choirs, London Pro Musica, in The Tender Land, Saturday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. at St. George's Cathedral.

The concert will highlight sacred choral music from both sides of the 'pond'—from classics by Vaughan Williams, Stanford and Rachmaninoff to contemporary music by Karl Jenkins and Eric Whitacre.

Greg Runions Big Band

It's Greg Runions and his really big band — featuring Chris Alfano, Andrew Pitkin, Jon Stewart, Chet Dozas, Merlin Williams, Jocelyn Couture, Brian O'Kane, Blair Yarranton, Janet MacRae, Mike Verner, Andry Sparling, Jon Palmer, Taylor Donaldson, Tim booth, David Braid, Dave Barton, Arthur Roth and Mike Cassells.

The band will be performing music by jazz composer Fred Stride, who is visiting Kingston to collaborate with Runions and his band.

The concert takes place Saturday, March 5, at 7 pm., at the Kingston Frontneac Public Library main branch, Wilson Room.

Admission: $20/adults, $15/students/ seniors.

Comedian at the Grand

Comedian Norm MacDonald is at the Grand Theatre Sunday, March 6, 7:30 p.m. Joining MacDonald is funnyman Kevin Farley. MacDonald is perhaps best known for his offbeat delivery of "the fake news" on "Saturday Night Live" for five seasons and his notable characterizations of Bob Dole and Burt Reynolds.

Kim Churchill's one-man rock show

Australian folk sensation Kim Churchill visits Kingston Wednesday, March 9 launching his first self-titled CD. Churchilat the Mansion, takes musical multitasking to new heights as he simultaneously plays guitar while performing vocal, harmonica, stompbox, drums and percussion. His one-man rock show wasdeveloped after busking throughout Australia.

Designer Drugs Duo

Gearing up for the release of their debut album HARDCORE/SOFTCORE, New York City's DJ/production duo Designer Drugs play Stages Nightclub Wednesday, March 9.

The King's Singers

The Grand Theatre hosts the amazing a cappella performers The King's Singers. Their critically acclaimed albums, of which there are more than 100, including their recent studio album "Simple Gifts", have won countless awards, including a Grammy in 2009 for Best Classical Crossover Recording.

The show takes place Friday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $40-45, online at www.kingstongrand.ca or at the Grand box office.

Kodo, Japanese drummers

If you were thrilled by the explosive performance of Yamato last season, you won't want to miss Kodo. Kodo is the world's most renowned taiko drumming group, performing for almost 30 years to sold-out performances across the globe. The legendary group from Japan will perform for the first time in Kingston on the Grand stage Wednesday, March 9, 7:30 p.m.
