Jeff Mangum, Portishead Lead New Jersey ATP

I'll Be Your Mirror fest comes to Asbury Park this fall

UPDATE: Bonnie "Prince" Billy and A Hawk and a Hacksaw have been added to the I'll Be Your Mirror lineup for Friday, September 30. A Hawk and a Hacksaw features Jeremy Barnes, formerly of Neutral Milk Hotel. Hmmm...

Neutral Milk Hotel mastermind and notorious recluse Jeff Mangum played a few solo shows last year, but fans will be ecstatic to learn that he'll return to the stage before 2011 is out. Mangum will perform at the Portishead-curated All Tomorrow's Parties festival I'll Be Your Mirror, which takes place in the Jersey shore town of Asbury Park September 30 - October 2.

Mangum's performance takes place on the first day, and only those who purchase three-day passes to the festival will be able to attend. A press release notes that Mangum will also perform the Monday after the festival, October 3, at Asbury Park's Paramount Theatre.

Portishead themselves will perform on the final two nights of the festival-- the band's first East Coast shows since 1998. Other acts announced for the fest so far include Shellac, Chavez, Cults, and the Album Leaf.

Maybe Springsteen will show up?

"The Red Hot Chili Peppers have obviously based their career on Gang of Four, and they'd admit that. The guitar on their single 'Can't Stop' was directly from one of our early songs, and when I heard it I thought, 'That's going a bit far.'

I bumped into their bass player, Flea, a few years back at a party' and he said, 'Andy, I just don't understand why you've never sued us.'"

-- Gang of Four co-leader (and former Red Hot Chili Peppers producer) Andy Gill, who must wish his band had come up with the idea of wearing socks on their penises. (via Metro, via NME)

These New Puritans, Wiley, Terror Danjah, More Remix Gucci Mane for Sinden Mixtape

Last year, Diplo put together Free Gucci (Best of the Cold War Mixtapes), a free online mixtape in which the DJ and his famous friends remixed tracks from eccentric Atlanta rap star Gucci Mane. And next month, the British DJ and producer Sinden will release the sequel.

Today, Sinden announced that he'll release Free Gucci II: The Great Burrrtish Edition on January 28, this coming Friday. All of the contributors to the mixtape are British, and the lineup includes These New Puritans, Wiley, Tinchy Stryder, Hudson Mohawke, and Terror Danjah. This makes sense, considering that Gucci's already released his own British-themed mixtape, Great Brrritain (The Cold War Pt. 2), which features a whole lot of Gucci doing a fake British accent. We've got the tracklist below.

In other Gucci-related news, he released his own free mixtape, Gucci 2 Time, earlier this month; download it over at Nah Right. And in case you didn't hear, he also recently got a gigantic ice cream cone tattooed on his face. That's right: An ice cream cone. On his face.

Free Gucci II: The Great Burrrtish Edition:

01 Gucci Time [ft. Swizz Beatz] (Sinden Remix ft. Tinchy Stryder)
02 Brand New (Rustie Remix)
03 Party Animal (Hudson Mohawke Remix)

07 Weirdo (Swerve Remix ft. Ghetts)
08 Trap Talk (Toddla T Remix ft. Slick Don)

Video: CREEP and the xx's Romy Madley Croft

Also: "Days" remixes by Pictureplane, Azari & III, Deadboy, Soul Clap

"Days", the collaboration between dark electronic duo CREEP and the xx's Romy Madley Croft, now has a suitably witchy video to accompany it. MTVU has the clip, which was filmed in a Victorian mansion by Warren Fischer of Fischerspooner. It features plenty of spooky imagery, including dripping blood and a weird light-triggered board game (or something). Check out the clip here.

In addition, there's been more than a few remixes of "Days" floating around. Check out takes by Pictureplane (via Mad Decent) and Boston dubby-disco outfit Soul Clap below. But wait, there's more! RCRD_LBL has a remix from Toronto house mavens Azari & III, while Pinglewood's got a take from UK producer Deadboy.

Explosions in the Sky Return With Take Care

On April 26, the epic Texan instrumental rock band Explosions in the Sky return with Take Care, Take Care, Take Care (Temporary Residence Ltd.), the band's first studio album since 2007's All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone. The band produced the album themselves, with John Congleton (Modest Mouse, Walkmen) recorded and mixing. We've got the tracklist below. Also below, you can hear a clip of music from the album set to some totally fucking sick basketball footage. Too bad the NBA didn't let Explosions in the Sky join this year's Slam Dunk Contest; they would've owned that shit.

The band has a few shows coming up on both sides of the Atlantic, including a headlining date at New York's Radio City Music Hall, with Low and Eluvium opening. If you've ever seen the band live, you know their slow-building churns can make for a moving spectacle. The idea of seeing them inside a venue as huge and gorgeous as Radio City is the kind of thing that makes me want to book a flight to New York. Dates below.

Take Care, Take Care, Take Care:

01 Last Known Surroundings
02 Human Qualities
03 Trembling Hands
04 Be Comfortable, Creature
05 Postcard From 1952
06 Let Me Back In

The world hasn't heard a new album from New Jersey postpunk originators the Feelies since 1991's Time for a Witness. That'll change on April 12, when Bar/None releases the band's long-awaited comeback album Here Before. And up above, you can download the album's second song, the jittery and jangly "Should Be Gone". It sounds exactly like a Feelies song; the years have not done a whole lot to alter this band's sound.
