Music News & Gossip

Your guess is as good as mine as to which bit of news below is the most important. These are all things, I suppose, we must decide for ourselves. So, start deciding below…

Take an Aeroplane Over the Sea: The Internet basically exploded a few weeks back when news broke that Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel) would play the Portishead-curated All Tomorrow's Parties festival in Asbury Park, NJ (Sept. 30–Oct. 2, 2011). Then everyone went nuts when he added a handful of shows for Canada, Massachusetts and New York. By the time this hits print, all the tickets will be long gone, but you’re probably still interested in knowing that in addition to all of this, Mangum also curated his own stage at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival which takes place in Minehead, Somerset, England on Dec. 2–4, 2011. In all, he’ll pick about 40 bands to play, but what he’s put together so far is incredible. On board are a reunited Olivia Tremor Control, Superchunk, Young Marble Giants, The Magic Band, The Raincoats, Apples in Stereo, Tinariwen and A Hawk and a Hacksaw. I fully expect the entire lineup to be mind-boggling. All these shows constitute the first major instances of Magnum playing out in over a decade.
