Heineken TransAtlantic Festival
by marykeel on April 26, 2011

Title: Heineken TransAtlantic Festival
Location: North Beach Bandshell
Link out: Click here
Description: The Heineken TransAtlantic Festival was created in 2003 by The Rhythm Foundation, a Miami-based non profit cultural organization. The Rhythm Foundation is the leading presenter of World Music in South Florida.

The Festival explores modern world music from the great cities of the Atlantic rim – Europe, Africa, Brazil, Argentina, the Caribbean, NYC and features artists working in the beautiful collision between traditional rhythms and electronica/DJ culture. The series pays tribute to Miami as a true modern TransAtlantic capital, a crossroads of the Americas and Europe.

In addition to creating a blend of musical sounds and rhythms with the beach as its backdrop the Festival will have some greenness in it as well.  And no we’re not referring to the green that has a profound smell.  The festival offers recycling options thanks to Rescue Earth who have been providing this service for the last three years.  And this year along with 305green the festival will be canvassed with our newest project, Artcycle Miami ( recycle bins made out of tires designed by local artist Greg Pitts ) so be on the look out for those as you’re swaying to the beats and steadily moving towards round two at the bar.  Rescue Earth will also have a booth that will feature eco friendly products and accessories for sale from our Ground Up Collective crew.  So be sure to come by, say hi, have a look, grab a sticker, purchase the coolest accessory you’ve probably seen in a long while and feel good about it especially because a portion of the funds will go back to the non-profit.
