What it is:
Stern Grove is a 33-acre park in the residential Sunset District. Built by the WPA in the early 1930s, the park consists of thickly wooded eucalyptus, redwood, and fir groves and two natural lakes. Running from mid July through August, the concerts take place in the scenic outdoor amphitheater.

When to Go:
The concerts take place on Sundays, when local families and friends gather to picnic and relax in a natural setting. Performances range from classical to jazz and pop and also include dance and opera. Some of the internationally recognized artists who have performed here include The English Beat, Rickie Lee Jones, and The San Francisco Symphony.
