The Grand Performances summer concert series kicks off this weekend in downtown Los Angeles. While this isn't strictly a music festival (this series also features plays, readings,etc.), there certainly are some music events that will be worth checking out. Like who? I'm glad you asked. How about Exene, I See Hawks in LA, and Yemen Blues, just to name a few.
Oh, and did I mention that every concert in this series is free? That's right. Just ask yourself what you can get for free these days, except a sock in the eye. And good concerts.
The Grand Performances series takes place at 300-350 Grand Avenue. See the complete lineup at the Grand Performances website and then head to downtown LA to take in a lot of good music (you've got all summer) and art. Don't cost nothin'.
