The Saw Doctors bring the party to the Birchmere tonight. Adored in their native Ireland for catchy songs and the ability to rev up a crowd to boisterous levels, it’s a skill they’ve honed over years of international roadwork, including two inaugurations of Maryland governor Martin O’Malley. The band’s fun-loving live reputation and bittersweet anthems to everyday people have earned Springsteen comparisons, both in the craft of the songs and rabid live audience participation, where crowd singalongs threaten to drown out the band.
