Wanda and Junior and Buddy, Oh my!: Hellbilly Fest and other weekend events

Well, loyal reader, another weekend is upon us and you are probably wondering what your live music options are. All I can say is that if you cannot find something to check out this weekend, you won't have yours truly to blame.

Friday

  • The legendary Buddy Guy plays The Grove of Anaheim. (Seriously, do you need another option?)
  • Check out the country/rockabilly sound of Ryan Bradley at The Pike in Long Beach.
  • Sure, it's not St. Patrick's Day, but you can still put on your "Kiss me I'm Irish" button and go see Young Dubliners at The Galaxy in Santa Ana.

Saturday

  • Slick back your hair, roll up your jeans, get in your hot rod, and head down to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for the Hellbilly Fest. Why? Well, if it's not enough to have headliners like Wanda Jackson and Junior Brown, you can also check out local favorites Big Sandy and The Rocketz, among others. Oh, and your MC for this event is none other than the inimitable Mojo Nixon.
  • Rock out with Memphis Murder Men at The Juke Joint in Anaheim.
  • Oh, and just in case you've been longing to hear Limp Bizkit, go to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine.

Sunday

  • By now loyal reader, you know that I am always on the lookout for something different. Well, if it's different you want this weekend, go to El Rey for Azam Ali. 
  • Do you like your punk rock with some slide guitar? Then check out The Bloody Hollies at Alex's Bar in Long Beach.
