At the start of a ten-plus year career encompassing countless albums, Azam Ali met Greg Ellis, a jazz-loving percussionist, with whom she founded the band Vas. She later continued his work with world music band Niyaz-which will perform during the festival-alongside Grammy nominee Carmen Rizzo and her partner Loga Ramin Torkian. Azam Ali is also active as a solo artist, having released her latest album "From Night to the Edge of Day," a unique synthesis of electro-ethnic music, in 2011.
