Best Bets for Oct. 12-18, 2011: Hit Week, Stars, Zombie Walk
FRIDAY 14-SUNDAY 16: HIT WEEK The Italian government has sent six musical artists to the United States on a three-city tour called Hit Week. Subsonica, Caparezza, Nicola Conte, Casino Royale, Après la Classe and Erica Mou will play throughout the weekend at PAX: Performing Arts Exchange and Grand Central in Miami. On Friday, PAX will host the alternative-acoustic rocker Mou and the jazzy, new-age singer Conte. The following night, the bohemian rapper Caparezza will remind listeners of the Beastie Boys and 3OH3!, though his song “Abiura Di Me” sounds like the soundtrack to an old arcade game. The ska-influenced Après la Classe also will perform. On Sunday, the festival will move to Grand Central with the trip-hop act Casino Royal and electro-rock group Subsonica. The latter act is one of the most-popular bands in Italy. Its latest album, Eden, was No. 2 on the Italian charts at presstime.
Locations: PAX: Performing Arts Exchange, 337 S.W. Eighth St., Miami, and Grand Central, 697 N. Miami Ave., Miami Time: 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday (PAX) and 8 p.m. Sunday (Grand Central) Cost: $10 (PAX) and $15 (Grand Central) Contact: 305-640-5847 or Paxmiami.com and 305-377-2277 or Grandcentralmiami.com 10/12/11 >> go there
