4 out of 5 stars
An expatriate Kenyan fronting a locktight Florida band with a swinging horn section, KG Omulo’s debut album runs from the righteous political Afrobeat of “Intervention” to the whimsical reggae of “Ready To Love”, via the title track’s Swahili incantations over a backing that nods to Dylan and the Grateful Dead’s slow train, with burbling organ.
Honed over years of live playing, the performances are magisterially assured. 01/15/12 >> go there
