François and The Atlas Mountains
This morning comes a track called "Les Plus Beaux" by François Marry and his band The Atlas Mountains. Back in 2003 this native Frenchman relocated to the UK for a teaching position, only to find himself thrust into the music scene of Bristol. Making friends with the likes of Camera Obscura, the recent signee to Domino is poised to release his new record entitled E Volo Love in the U.S. on Feb. 14. Aside from the fact that it's being sung in a foreign language, it's easy to tell that "Les Plus Beaux" is channeling a number of Afro-pop influences. Mixed by Tinariwen's Jean-Paul Romann, the song breezes by with Graceland inflection. 01/13/12 >> go there
