Some nights at the South by Southwest Music festival are letdowns: missed connections, lines outside packed clubs that are going to outlast the set, bands whose MP3 at the SXSW site was better than their set. That’s how it went on Wednesday night. I was happy to get an infusion of roiling psychedelia from Royal Baths, to hear the sustained vocal purity of the folky Irish singer Foy Vance, and to see Filastine, who mingled jittery electronica with international percussion, well-coordinated video imagery and a live cellist (but who could use more melodic bits).
