Lebowski Fest hits its 11th year this weekend at Executive Strike and Spare

by Allan Day

Come out and celebrate all things Lebowski, with musical performances, improv, bowling, and lots and lots of White Russians. Dudes – the time has come for the event that L.A. Times refers to as “a chaotic celebration of the human spirit” and The Wall Street Journal has called “one hell of a party.” It is time for the 11th annual Lebowski Fest, a celebration of one of the best films by the legendary filmmaking team of the Coen Brothers: The Big Lebowski.

The weekend starts on Friday at 9:00 with the Movie Party. It begins with a musical performance by Mucca Pazza, a 30-piece “circus punk marching band,” as they refer to themselves. The music is followed by a screening of The Big Lebowski. Admission is $10 in advance and $12 day of.

The Garden Party takes place on Saturday starting at 4:00. Attendees will be treated to musical performances by Todd Snider and Louisville's The Deloreans, as well as a show by Derby City Dating Scene Improv and lawn games. Admission is $10 in advance and $15 day of.

The Bowling Party is followed immediately by the Bowling Party at 8:00. The entertainment? Bowling! Plus costume and trivia contests, and, of course, lots and lots of White Russians. Cost of the Bowling Party is $25 in advance and $30 day of.

Complete weekend passes are also available for the low price of $45, which gets the ticket-holder complete access to the entire weekend festival.

It all takes place this weekend at the Executive Lawn and Executive Strike and Spare, which is located at 911 Phillips Lane. Complete festival information, as well as advance ticket sales, can be found at the Lebowski Fest website.
