Hailing from Benin, a tiny nation on Africa’s west coast (between Togo and Nigeria), Orchestre Poly-Rythmo formed in the late 1960s, issued hundreds of recordings, took a 20-plus-year break, and returned with “Cotonou Club,” named a New York Times Best Album of 2011.
