Kodo — a popular Japanese taiko drum group that has visited the Mondavi Center several times — returns at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, for a performance in Jackson Hall. Kodo is on the road with a program titled “One Earth Tour: Legend,” which combines recently composed pieces by Kodo members along with traditional taiko and Japanese folk arts.

Kodo made its international premiere in Berlin in 1981, and marked its 30th anniversary in 2011. The group maintains a taiko center on remote Sado Island (part of Niigata Prefecture) in the chilly Sea of Japan, where the group trains for its strenuous performances.
