In other free exciting news, SiriusXM will present a free show on Wednesday September 19th at La Tulipe featuring Montreal indie darlings STARS and Toronto new wave diva Diamond Rings. Space is limited for this show: SiriusXM will be giving away tickets please check out the POP site for more details. A limited number of POP passes will also allow you entry to the show so show up early.

One of the highlights we are happy to announce is an amazing collaboration between two of our favorite artists; the choreographer and dancer Hanako Hoshimi-Caines and the lovely songstress Katie Moore. They will bring us Where the river got the water remix on Sunday, September 23rd at the Ukrainian Federation.

Breakglass Studios will continue last year's tradition of hosting an intimate concert, this time with The Besnard Lakes and Young Galaxy.

Finally, Pop Montreal are thrilled to announce that David Byrne, Régine Chassagne and Kid Koala will be hosting the half time show at the star studded POP vs Jock Charity Basketball Game on Saturday, September 22nd at the McGill Gym. The game will feature the Butler brothers (Arcade Fire), actor Martin Starr of Freaks and Geeks and Party Down, pro-basketball player Luke Bonner, Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes and a couple more surprises. All proceeds from this game will go towards DJ Sports Club, a non profit charity organization in Montreal's south west borough that offers programs in sports and education to youth 7 to 17 years old.

Be sure to head to the POP Symposium to hear two of the most prominent and fascinating figures in pop music discuss life in music. Longtime friends Jeannette Lee and Vivien Goldman were both important members of the UK's punk-underground, where Jeannette worked at the early epicentre Acme Attractions and Vivien sang in the band The Flying Lizards. Today, the two ladies are influential industry members, respectively as co-owner of Rough Trade Records and Adjunct Professor at NYU's Clive Davis Institute.

Many more notable guests and festival artists will be found amongst workshops on music licensing, grant writing, entertainment law, recording, touring and chances for face-to-face time with festival heads and music supervisors. All for free.

Anyone who needs to get their bite on more '70s punk stories should go check out Film POP's screening of Nightclubbing: New York Punk and New Wave 1975-1980, a restored collection of raw and unique videotapes taken in the late 1970's during the burgeoning New York punk scene, compiled as the ultimate wish-I-was-there document, which includes rare footage of The Talking Heads, Blondie and more!

Speaking of restored film collections, it is an honour to collaborate with the Cinémathèque québécoise in presenting a collection of Lillian Schwartz's 16mm films. The cinematic multimedia pioneer herself will introduce this retrospective event via a rare (yet appropriate) Skype appearance!

If you're more the contemporary type, be sure to make time for Art POP's Art of "The Suburbs", an opportunity to examine the Arcade Fire's creative process through never-before seen objects and images. The public will view works by Grammy-Award winning album artwork designer Caroline Robert (2011, Best Recording Package) and album art direction as well as longtime collaborator of Arcade Fire, Vincent Morisset, also the director of the dance-activated video for Sprawl II and the interactive tale BLA BLA (recipient of the 2012 SXSW Interactive Art Award).

If you want to experience something different, visit the exhibit of Berlin/London/Paris artist o F F Love who will recreate the obsessive, vulnerable and voyeuristic teenage bedroom. The musician will also perform a minimalist R&B set after his vernissage, on September 21st. Read MORE about Art POP.

Of course, Puces POP will be up to its usual amazingness, with its epic craft fair on September 22nd and 23rd, uniting under one roof over 65 artists representing the best in Montreal's hand-made. Discover woodcraft by Blisscraft & Brazen, jewellery by Camillette, ceramics by Designlump, delicious coma food by Dinette Nationale, embroideries by Maudstitch, prints and illustrations by Toast On Jam, clothing and accessories by Sea & Land, and (you guessed it), so much more! Hop down a few blocks to visit The Record Fair which will host a goldmine of second-hand vinyl from Montreal's finest indie record labels and collectors. Be sure to save your energy and fancy-it-up on Sunday night for the long awaited Fashion POP competition! Indie designer collections will hit the runway for a chance to win $1000 courtesy of Le Château, a 4-page editorial in WORN Fashion Journal, and a pop-up exhibition in Espace POP. Winners will be decided by a selection of Fashion celebrity judges. Dress to impress!

Finally, Kids POP will be up to its same-old shenanigans on September 22nd and 23rd, with events this year in Little Italy and Mile-End. Get ready for some fun times during Kids Yoga, Kids clothing swap and a Monster T-Shirt Workshop.
