A concert by Los Cenzontles featuring David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, a conversation with architects Tod Williams and Billie Tsien and a reading of new works by poet Adam Zagajewski will be featured on the opening weekend of the University of Chicago’s Logan Center for the Arts.

The Logan Launch festival, running Oct. 12-14, will invite the public to see the $114 million arts complex for a weekend’s worth of free events, at 915 E. 60th St.

Los Cenzontles. The California band will collaborate with Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo in an outdoor kickoff concert, noon to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 12.

New Budapest Orpheum Society. The ensemble will perform Jewish cabaret music in Hebrew, Yiddish, German and English, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 12.

“Beware the Stairs are Always Moving.” Architects Tod Williams and Billie Tsien converse on the design of the Logan Center, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12.

“That’s Weird, Grandma.” Barrel of Monkeys kicks off the Logan’s monthly family programming series, 11 a.m. Oct. 13.

“All Our Tragic.” Director Sean Graney presents the first public reading of his adaptation of 32 Greek tragedies of Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides, 1 p.m. Oct. 13 to 1 a.m. Oct. 14.

Jazz X-tet Reunion Band. Mwata Bowden celebrates the 18th anniversary of the X-tet by leading alums in performance, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13.

Turtle Island Quartet. The ensemble performs its classical-contemporary repertory, 3 p.m. Oct. 14.

“Sonic Environments.” Films, live performances and sound installation by Richard Lerman will unfold throughout the weekend in various locations inside the Logan Center.
