The Music Center at Strathmore - The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO), directed by Jack Everly, with vocalist Linda Eder, will present Songbirds, a tribute to Judy Garland at the Music Center on Thursday, November 8. The concert will include classics from the Garland songbook, including "By Myself," "The Trolley Song," "It Never Was You," "Almost Like Being in Love" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

The BSO, conducted by Marin Alsop, will perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in the Music Center on Friday, November 9. Maestra Alsop will explain why the symphony “still captures the imagination after more than two centuries.”

The BSO, conducted by Marin Alsop, with pianist Denis Kozhukhin, will perform a concert titled Lyrical Dvorák and Brahms, in the Music Center on Saturday, November 17. Maestra Alsop and the orchestra have been celebrated for their recordings of works by Dvorák and will perform the composer’s Symphony No. 8. The performance will be complemented with Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2.

The BSO, conducted by Mario Venzago, with cellist Sol Gabetta, will perform Elgar’s Cello Concerto in the Music Center on Thursday, November 29. The concert will mark the talented cellist’s BSO debut. The National Philharmonic The National Philharmonic, conducted by Piotr Gajewski, will perform Prokofiev: Beyond Peter and the Wolf at the Music Center at Strathmore on Saturday, November 10. The concert will feature pianist Brian Ganz, performing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3, mezzo-soprano Magdalena Wór and the National Philharmonic Chorale, conducted by Victoria Gau. The program will include scores which the composer wrote for the films Lieutenant Kijé and the 1938 historical drama Alexander Nevsky, on which he collaborated with Russian film director Sergei Eisenstein. He will perform Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book II.

WPAS will present violinist Joshua Bell in the Music Center on Thursday, November 1. The program will be comprised of works by Schubert, Strauss, Dvořák and Prokofiev.

Melissa Etheridge, the Grammy-award winning singer songwriter, will perform at the Music Center on Friday, November 2. The singer, who received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2011, has a new album called 4th Street Feeling.

Strathmore will present bluesman Keb' Mo' at the Music Center on Saturday, November 3. The multitalented guitarist performs jazz, soul, pop, gospel and more. He’s said to be “as at home in Nashville and Motown as he is in the muddy Mississippi.”

Strathmore will present American singer/songwriter Nathan Pacheco in the Music Center on Sunday, November 11. Virginia-born Pacheco, who is of Brazilian descent, first became known as part of the Yanni Voices project. Strathmore will present Rita: My Joys in the Music Center on Tuesday, November 13. The esteemed vocalist Rita Yahan-Farouz is so well-known in Israel that she is known simply as Rita. Strathmore will present Classic Albums Live: Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon in the Music Center on Friday, November 23. Classic Albums will have musicians recreate Pink Floyd’s epic 1973 disc onstage, with hits including “Money” and “Us and Them.” The album was on the Billboard charts longer than any other album in history.

Strathmore will present two performances by Dein Perry’s Tap Dogs, directed by Nigel Triffitt, with music by Andrew Wilkie, in the Music Center on Saturday, November 24. The show originated at the Sydney Theatre Company and is “part theatre and part rock concert.” Set on a construction site in a steelworks town, six dancers and two musicians perform a highly-athletic and challenging show. An outside presenter will bring Lisa Lampanelli, known by some as “Comedy’s Queen of Mean” to the Music Center on Friday, November 30.
