<p>Though December 21st, 2012 was interpreted to foretell the apocalypse by overexcited archeologists and Hollywood directors, it actually marks the beginning of a new era according to the highly sophisticated Mayan Calendar.</p>

<p>In honor of this ancient tradition, Sones de M&eacute;xico Ensemble presents a new concert composition named after the indigenous word for end of the calendar cycle with 13 B&rsquo;ak&rsquo;tun. Chicago-based Sones de M&eacute;xico draws its passionate musical creativity from traditional Mexican and Mayan culture as well as modern twists of experimental rock and serialist method. An intricate composition revering past and present Mayan eras, this spirited show reveals the significance and magnificence of this misunderstood celebration. Our very own Rambler alumnae Mercedes Martinez aided with the production design for these upcoming performances!</p>
