Freshlyground, the innovative South African afro-fusion group that rose to international acclaim with their song, 'Waka Waka (This Time For Africa),' that they performed with Shakira during the 2010 World Cup Soccer Game Kickoff Concert held in South Africa. Although based in South Africa, the band members variously hail from South Africa, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.

If you are one of enigmatic lead singer Zolani Mahola's biggest fans, you might want to make it to the show as there are rumors swirling that she might soon take a hiatus from performing to raise her family. She tweeted on March 17th that she was expecting her first child.

The band is extremely talented with an experienced rhythm section of Peter Cohen (drums) & Josh Hawks (bass), complimented by guitarist Julio Sigauque, keyboardist Seredeal Scheepers, Simon Attwell (flute, mbira, sax and harmonica) and violinist Kyla Rose Smith. The group is wildly popular in South Africa and have a fan base that spans many continents. They recently released a new album, 'Take Me To The Dance', which already promises to have several hits. They have also had an opportunity to perform with some legendary musicians including the late Miriam Makeba, Stanley Clarke, Femi Kuti, and Oliver Mtukudzi. Freshlyground has won several awards including an MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act (2006), South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Duo or Group (2008), and Channel O Video Music Award for Best Africa, Southern, for their song, "Pot Belly' (2008).
