Financial Times, Album Review >>
4 out of 5 stars
Nothing makes the heart sink faster than the prospect of a posthumous collection of outtakes. But Cesaria Evora bucks the trend: this collection of songs that failed to make the barefoot diva’s albums in the 2000s and, in a couple of cases, the 1990s, somehow coheres wonderfully. Some of the songs have been touched up with extra backing, but Evora’s voice deservedly remains central. ‘Sentimento’ is an anthem to stand alongside ‘Sodade’.
