Another Turin, who won the Italian music scene, another that has captured the interest of the critics not only domestic but also foreign. You Ludovico Einaudi, just arrived in the United States for the tour of his latest album, 'In A Time Lapse'. Classical training but that looks to pop: talks about his work, his piano and his relationship with art. "Report", as he explains, "influenced by the environment in which I grew up." Is the son of Ludovico Einaudi, among the most famous Italian publishers, and grandson of Luigi Einaudi, former president of the Republic. "Living in a family where the culture has always occupied an important place has influenced my growth, my choices today, even in the arts, I must surely also to that." Ludwig, however, chose a different path, that of music. Express themselves with other forms of art as well as with verbal language makes the artists of the favorite subjects? "The forms of art come to touch the notes that can not always be achieved," he says, "regardless of the channel. What is the right word, music or picture, the art is wonderful because it can reach out and touch different strings, hidden. " His music seems to touch those strings, piano through a drag and travel to distant dimensions. The critics have labeled as experimental artist: what is the experimentation in the music of Einaudi? "The trial can take many forms, but is first of all the search for something new, trying to get to unknown places. That's what I try to do in this is my experiment. " That the Italian public appreciate his work is a fact of life, but now Einaudi is ready to face the United States, the destination desired by many, but among the most difficult markets to conquer, for the quality and the competition that are at home here . "It's true," he says, "this is a country that attracts a lot, to be that sense of freedom that is breathed in they can express themselves, both as an individual and as an artist. Yet even here it is not the best time for music, there have been times of great innovation in the past decades, but now it seems to me that at international level there is a lull. " A statement that makes you think, shared by other artists with whom we discussed recently. "Maybe it's the overabundance" explains Einaudi. "There is too much production, too much choice, too many channels to access everything. Certainly, technology has many positive aspects: an easier access to music products, the direct relationship between artist and audience ... But perhaps in all of this ease and abundance you lose some. '" He thinks for a moment and then said: "It is a very complex discourse and perhaps, at the moment, there are no definitive answers." Just the opposite direction to this superabundance, Einaudi offers instrumental music that has not even need words. The messages and emotions travel only through the notes of his piano. If the word - and language - are not necessary, then perhaps the music of Ludovico is international by nature. "Of course, if you chose to sing it would have been more difficult to reach a varied audience: I had a great response instead of in the various countries of the world in which I brought my music, which confirms that my piano knows no language barriers ". A detail to be reckoned with when it comes to going to conquer the American market. Einaudi is now on tour to promote his latest work, "a reflection on time, on today's hectic lifestyle that gets out of hand, and the importance to regain possession of the little things, moments, and the slowness of our inner time" . Los Angeles is waiting for him on May 31 at the Ford Amphitheatre. Who knows that America, a symbol of those natural rhythms lost, not particularly appreciate a return to the essentials.
