There's something cinematic about Einaudi's work, a melange of chamber music, new-age and electronics. Perhaps it's simply because it's a formula common to thoughtful drama film scores. The Italian pianist's new album, In a Time Lapse, from which this performance draws, is a pretty and melancholy work, perfect for rain scenes and goodbyes. Fans of Alexandre Desplat and Brian Eno will find something to savor and blissfully sulk with here.
