KFAI, Interview >>
Happy Valentine's Day! Have a heart-broken--yet uplifting!--listen to this interview/performance session with Jamaican one-string guitar bluesman Brushy One-String.
A couple days before the night of globalFEST 2014 in January, I sat down with Brushy to talk about everything from the vision he had that led to his unique instrumentation; to the process of finding his musical voice in the absence of his parents (his father was Jamaican soulster Freddy McKay, and his mother, Beverly Foster, sang back-up for Tina Turner); to his involvement in the acclaimed reggae documentary Rise Up. Brotha nailed it. Originally aired on KFAI 90.3 FM Minneapolis/106.7 FM St. Paul: kfai.org/news/2014/02/41579.
Songs, in the order they were played, all from his latest release DESTINY (2013):
Greys in my Blues
Mr. DC (Sugar Minott cover)
Chicken in the Corn
