Members of Runa, the captivating Celtic band based in Philadelphia, have played with Solas, Riverdance, Clannad, Teada, Slide, Goitse and Fiddler's Bid, among others, and are vocalist and step dancer Shannon Lambert-Ryan of Philadelphia, Dublin-born guitarist Fionan De Barra, percussionist Cheryl Prashker from Canada, Galway's Dave Curley on banjo, mandolin, bodhran, vocals and step dancing and fiddler Maggie Estes from Louisville. Runa draws on the diverse musical backgrounds of their members to offer a highly-energetic, contemporary and refreshing approach to the traditional and more recently composed Celtic music. The recent relase of their third CD,'Somewhere Along the Road' and nomination by Irish Music Awards of Lambert-Ryan as 'Best Female Vocalist' in 2012, has the future all ahead of them for this tremendously talented young ensemble. As Gene Shay, co-founder of the Philadelphia Folk Festival, wrote, 'For contemporary Celtic music at its very best, do yourself a favor and check out Runa... brilliant.'
