New recording showcases the collaboration of six singer/songwriters of indigenous heritage from Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea, with soulful sounds rarely heard in North America.

What we try to do at Dialect Magazine is get you to appreciate your culture and other cultures! When an album like Walk A Mile In My Shoes (VGM/MGM Distribution) comes around, it is our pleasure to bring such talent and culture to your attention. This one is worth your dollars! Be prepared to purchase on July 14, 2013 (US release) and look out for the US tour in 2014.

Barefoot Divas is a group of Australian singer/songwriters but for this album they’ve included talents from New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, featuring Ursula Yovich (Aborigine Burarra/Serbia), Emma Donovan (Aborigine Gumbaynggirr NSW), Whirimako Black (Maori), Maisey Rika (Maori), Merenia (Maori/Romany-Gypsy), and Ngaiire (Papua New Guinea).

The composition on the album are all original. You can expect songs in Aboriginal languages with some English and Maori (Te Reo). Also, the album includes acoustic, jazz, R&B and Latin soul. You will get a feel for the experiences of the modern indigenous woman which is an intriguing perspective we rarely hear about.

The Barefood Divas have received much acclaim from ABC TV News 24, The Daily Telegraph, and others. At the 2012 Sydney Festival—one of Australia’s largest and most pioneering arts events2012 Sydney Festival, they performed live to great critical acclaim.
