URBANA — The Champaign-Urbana Folk and Roots Festival will present the Acadian band Vishten with special guests Wagon Fire on Thursday evening at the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center, 202 S. Broadway.

The show, co-presented with the Piper's Hut Concert Series, will start at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door for adults and $12 for students. Children younger than 12 are admitted free. Advance tickets are available at Heartland Gallery, 112 W. Main St., U.

Vishten performs a fiery blend of traditional French songs and original instrumentals that fuse Celtic and Acadian genres with a modern rock sensibility.

Hailing from Prince Edward Island's Evangeline area and from the most remote reaches of Quebec, twin sisters Emmanuelle and Pastelle LeBlanc join Pascal Miousse to perform tight sibling harmonies, layered foot percussion and virtuoso acoustic and electric instrumentation.

They perform on fiddle, guitar, accordion, harmonium, whistles, piano, bodhrn, jaw harp, synthesizer and electric guitar, and also do percussive dance.

Wagon Fire is a local five-piece ensemble that pays tribute to the Gypsy jazz music of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club de France in 1930s Paris. The lineup: Chris Strand on upright bass, Dave Tcheng on clarinet, accordion and saxophone, Phil Alley on lead guitar, Sam Payne on rhythm guitar and Claire Cannon on violin.

The concert will help support the fifth annual C-U Folk and Roots Festival on Nov. 1-2 in downtown Urbana. For additional information, visit http://www.folkandroots.org.
