Analog Africa’s Samy Ben Redjeb is one of the leading vinyl archivists of African 60's and 70's recordings and has expanded upon this treasure trove with compilations that give the highest level of respect to the artists that grace them. The packaging is beautiful, the history is always lush and the quality of the recordings feel great through various types of systems. Pulling into the deepest archives that one could imagine, Analog Africa has a very specific purpose and the integrity of this path has been felt around the world with new generations finding love in the afrobeat movement because of this label and others like it. The research is some of the greatest contributions to the history of African fusion music and the label has once again outdone themselves with the soon to be released Afrobeat Airwaves 2: Return Flight to Ghana 1974-1983. Scheduled for a September 17th release, Analog Africa has searched every major area of music activity in Ghana during the 70's and early 80's for their new compilation. Pulling together extremely hard to find and unreleased material from the vast community of bands and artists, the quality of every track is superb and has us dancing for hours on end.

There are a few bands from Ghana who are making their debut appearances on any posthumous compilation with Afrobeat Airwaves 2: Return Flight to Ghana 1974-1983, including mind blowing cuts from Tony Sarfo and his Funky Afrosibi, Los Issufu and his Moslems and Waza Afrika 76. Afrobeat legends Ebo Taylor, Rob, K. Frimpong and De Frank were all seasoned in their respective paths and their inclusion into Afrobeat Airwaves 2: Return Flight to Ghana 1974-1983 is essential for the authenticity of the whole. This is a must own collection for any fan of African fusion music and really embodies the landscape of music coming out of Ghana with perfection. Analog Africa has released some of the most important albums in the last few years and it’s great to see them pick up from the 2009 release of the first Afrobeat Airwaves compilation.
