A handful of old friends a some new faces – this could be the summary of today’s worldmusic roundup. Two singers are currently crossing the atlantic. One is Rebeca Vallejo. The Spanish-born singer lives now in New Jersey and comes abroad to Europe to present her third studio album "Azúcar, Canela". Tomorrow night she will be playing Berlin, 9pm at the Humboldt-Box. But sorry, folks. There are no tickets available, as it is a concert organized by the Spanish Embassy. But no need to worry. Rebeca promised INSIGHT Worldmusic Magazine to return to Europe for a proper tour soon: "I'm sure we will be back next years (there are a couple of booking agencies interested that will be coming to the show. let's keep our fingers crossed so that they bring us back next year on a full tour through Germany!”, she revealed us via Facebook. So if you’re by chance a booking agent, you know exactly what to do. If you need contact details let us know, we’ll arrange almost everything.

Rebeca Vallejo ens a U.S. tour with a New York City release party on October 27, 2013 with the support of SPAIN arts & culture (www.spainculture.us). The songs include a unique mix, immediately identifiable, drawing on her deep immersion in jazz, Brazilian music and the flamenco of her ancestors and always with that very personal, and very Spanish, flavor. It’s there not just in the vocals, but bedded deep, in the layers of sharp, inimitable flamenco rhythms that propel the music, the palmas (handclaps) and Vallejo's own finger-snapping and body percussion.
