Congolese Musician Baloji to Showcase at globalFEST 2014

Belgian-Congolese artist Baloji is set to perform at new York City’s globalFEST 2014 world music showcase at The The Ballroom in Webster Hall on January 12th, 2014 at 10:45.

Baloji was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1978. He moved to Belgium with his father at four and at 15 joined the platinum-selling Starflam Collective, a leading Belgian hip-hop act. Baloji’s music is a mix of soul, afrobeat, and hip-hop influences.

His first solo album was certified gold in Belgium. After the release of Hotel Impala, Baloji felt an urge to go to the Congo and start a deeper exploration of his roots. The resulting Kinshasa Succursale album features contributions from Kinshasa’s finest musicians.
