If you’ve been waiting to catch a concert at Sandywoods, the hip, artist-run arts center and music venue in Tiverton, this weekend may finally do the trick. On Thursday, it’s an intriguing double bill featuring Poor Rich Boy, a six-piece Pakistani group that’s currently touring under the auspices of the State Department, and Newport-based singer-songwriter Bob Kendall. According to people who know about such things, Poor Rich Boy is one of the leading indie-rock bands in Pakistan (who knew?), with musical roots that draw on everything from Ravi Shankar to Radiohead. Kendall, meanwhile, is celebrating the release of a new album (cleverly titled “Bob Kendall”) produced with the help of Paul Q. Kolderie, a studio wizard who’s worked with the likes of Uncle Tupelo and Warren Zevon. On Friday, Sandywoods pays its respects to another singer-songwriter — Bob Dylan — on his 73rd birthday. (Actually, Dylan’s birthday is May 24, but who’s counting!) On Saturday, one of the best of the current crop of New Grass/Americana groups — The Tarbox Ramblers — takes the stage, followed by “Abbey Rhode,” a Beatles tribute on Sunday afternoon. All in all, a great weekend at Sandywoods.
