Chutzpah!
You could say that all performers have chutzpah. After all, that’s really what it takes to get up on stage. Well, that and some talent. Which brings us to Chutzpah!, the Jewish performing arts festival that runs from Feb. 22 to Mar. 9 at various venues across the city. It features a robust dance program that includes a world premiere by Hofesh Shector; as well as Canadian premieres by Richard Siegal and Barak Marshall, danced by Los Angeles-based BodyTraffic. Then there’s Italy’s ImPerfect Dancers, Idan Sharabi and Dancers (Israel), Ate9 Dance Company (US/Israel), and new work by Chutzpah! resident artist Donald Sales/Project 20.
Or check out its slate of musical performers, including saxophone virtuoso Uri Gurvich., Dudu Tassa and the Kuwaitis, and Yemen Blues.
There’s also comedy (25 Questions for a Jewish Mother, Brad Zimmerman) and theatre (Hirsch, Tiny Music) in the mix, too.
