Israeli Folk Group Baladino ~ Arts and Culture in the Oil Patch ~ “Human Rights in Albania”

Monday, March 10 – Baladino, an Israeli folk troupe, is on a five-week Arts Midwest World Fest tour, and they’re performing this Friday in Grand Forks. Joining us is Eric Smith of Arts Midwest and Yonnie Dror & Yael Badash of Baladino. ~~~ NPR’s series “The Great Plains Oil Rush” has looked at various issues arising from the current oil boom, and we’ve been rebroadcasting those stories on Main Street. Today, in the last story in the series, Dan Boyce tells us about an effort to bring a little arts and culture to the rough and tumble oil patch. ~~~ Melissa Schraibman of the US Department of Justice is presenting at UND this week on “Human Rights in Albania: Global and Local.” Also joining us is Gregory Gordon, director of the UND Center for Human Rights and Genocide Studies.
