On Thursday, June 13, Twitter launched a new service called #FollowMe that allows people to create "highlight reels" featuring pictures, videos, music and other content to their Twitter feeds.

The new videos are somewhat similar to Vine. Vine allows people to embed short video clips that are up to six seconds long into Facebook and Twitter feeds. #FollowMe allows people to make longer videos that showcase all of their best social media content.

According to Twitter Managing Editor James Buckhouse, "We’ve teamed up with Vizify to bring you #FollowMe, a new way for everyone on Twitter to make instant highlight videos of their best photos, Vine videos, Tweets, topics and followers. You’ll find out if you’re a nightowl or an early bird, discover your most engaged followers, and feature your most popular Tweets."

Adam Popescu of Mashable added that users can customize their videos in several ways, such as adding music from the Rumblefish Friendly Music catalog and using editing tools.

"To get started, simply grant Vizify third-party app access. Then, you'll be redirected to the Vizify site, where you'll find a customized video. Feel free to edit the music and pictures — and even add or cut scenes. Unlike Vine, there's no time limit, so go wild," Popescu said.

The songs provided for use with #FollowMe videos are available through a partnership with the Portland, Ore. based music licensing company Rumblefish. According to their website, Rumblefish has the world's largest music catalog for social media sites. The company has licensed over 10 million social soundtracks and provided music for clients such as Amazon Studios and Google.

According to the Rumblefish website, "The Rumblefish team is an interesting blend of music, technology, and intellectual property experts who each shamelessly suffer from different degrees of music geekdom. The team is as relentless as grateful in the pursuit of new ways to find and license music. ... The end result: Millions of amazing soundtracks for your films, shows, ads, videos and other projects that help tell stories exactly the way they're envisioned."

People in the greater Spokane area who are interested in trying out #FollowMe can watch videos by NBA stars Kobe Bryant and Stephen Curry to get some ideas about how to use the new service. Glee star Amber Patrice Riley also made a #FollowMe video to thank her fans and Twitter followers.

The new #FollowMe service could be useful for advertising a Spokane-area business, or it could allow people to have fun on Twitter in new ways. Adding a #FollowMe video to someone's Twitter bio could also be useful for engaging with other people and finding out more about who his or her tweets are reaching the most.
