Drummer Aaron Alexander and a klez-punk ensemble (who include downtown jazz/jewish music all-stars and great young players in the klezmer scene; trumpeter Frank London, reed player Greg Wall, and guitarist Brad Shepik, among others) perform live and make mayhem in the studio. On Alexander's latest CD, "Midrash Mish Mosh," dueling drummers pound infectious klezmer music through round holes, embracing jazz, thrash-punk, Balkan and African rhythms.
