Today's global hit features an adrenaline-fueled band from Hungary. They call themselves "Besh O Drom", which in Hungarian gypsy dialect means "go your own way." The 12 Budapest-based band members seem to have done just that. In fact, they've gone their own way in several musical directions at once. Their songs throw together musical ingredients from all over eastern Europe, Turkey and the Middle East.

The bands latest album is called "Can't make me." Some of the songs on the CD start off soft, with romantic melodies that evoke traditional Eastern-European music, but then the songs tend to veer drastically.

One tune is actually the band's take on a traditional Hungarian song called "My mother cursed me". That could be interpreted as a wandering gypsy complaint. "My mother cursed me when she brought me into this world," the song goes, "And now my feet can never stop. They keep strolling in foreign lands."

The members of Besh o Drom say their music is "a-thousand-mile-per-hour musical mayhem", but they also like to call themselves a futuristic wedding band, one that marries traditional ethnic music with the best of hip hop and jazz.
