The musician who won the Personality of the Year 2003 award in her native Portugal – she was born in Mozambique but moved as a baby – is returning to the United States for a short tour. Mariza performs fado music, which means a sad Portuguese folk song. The London Times called her one of ‘the greatest non-English-language divas of our time.’
