Classic Examples

The French gypsy band Les Yeux Noirs comes to the Buckman Center (60 Perkins Ext.) 8 p.m. Saturday for one night only.  The sextet, with a name that means “The Black Eyes,” blends the folksy gypsy music of Eastern Europe with energetic Jewish klezmer.  The styles have much in common, not the least of which is the fact that both ethnic groups have fled mainstream persecution for centuries.  The group’s instrumentation includes cellos, violins, accordion, electric guitar, cymbalum and electronic samples.  Tickest are $18 adults, $15 students and seniors.  Call 537-1483.
