    Year: 1988; 1991.  History:  With a name inspired from punk's Plasmatics and a sound based around Jewish folk music, New York's Klezmatics are equal parts tradition and silliness.  These debut albums belong in the collection of any world music fan.  Hits:  We wouldn't go so far as to call ancient tunes like AGlezele Vayn hits - but they could be the way htis sextet play 'em.  Extras: Along with being one of the finest klezmer records ever, Rhythm & Jews has the best album title of all time.  Both four stars.
