“Rise Up! Shteyt Oyf!”
(Rounder) The cheeky New York ensemble takes unexpected turns in its innovative mix of klezmer traditions with salsa, jazz and gospel. A scratchy old recording is integrated into the postmodern arrangements. Holly Near’s “I Ain’t Afraid” is sung in English and Yiddish.
