PERU NEGROMaking their New York debut, Peru Negro pioneered the Afro-Peruvian revival 35 years ago when they resurrected a 300-year-old slave music that draws in European, African, Latin and native Peruvian influences. Call-and-response singing, donkey jawbone shakers, and wooden crates (cajón) are the musical focal points, but the flashy costumed make it a feast for the eyes too. 02/18/04
