Mahmoud Fadl - The Drummers of the Nile In Town
One of the top performers of percussion in the entire world, Mahmoud Fadl, a Nubian master drummer from the Nile region is a direct descendant of a Nubian family rooted in the Griot culture of the Battikol people. On this album he performs to perfection on various percussion instruments including duff, conga, duhula, and sandouk mesri. The German world music label Piranha Music present one of the downright best percussion albums of all time. The traditional rhythm played to greet wedding guests called “Halo Aleina” is unbelievable masterful. While many of the tracks are short, often times only 2 minutes in length or less, you feel like you’ve been swept off your feet and whisked away to the inner street markets of Cairo. 03/01/04 >> go there
