Moroccan roll. The first disk of Club d’Elf’s Electric Moroccoland/So Below (Face Pelt) combines North African trance rhythms with state-of-the-art science- fiction keyboards (aloha John Medeski), head-glitch turntablism (Mister Rourke), and Elf leader Mike Rivard’s deep three-stringed sintir and cavernous bass. Check out its streetwise chaabi versions of Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love” and Morphine’s “Rope on Fire.” CD two is more akin to Club d’Elf’s 21st-century take on electric Miles Davis as dosed by late psychonaut Terence McKenna.
