'FESTIVAL IN THE DESERT' This live CD, released by Triban Union, documents the three-day concert of the same name, held in January in a remote Malian village called Essakane. There are a few big names here, including Ali Farka Touré and, oddly enough, Robert Plant. But nearly everything on the disc is great, from the spidery guitar riffs of Sedoum Ehl Aïda, from Mauritania, to the lopsided rhythms of Takamba Super Onze, a Malian group.
