IAP Artistic Director, Letter from Jon Sirkis >>
Congratulations! People's Spring by the Warsaw Village Band has been selected as a finalist in the Indie Acoustic Projects Best CDs of 2004 awards in the World Music--Europe, Asia, and the Pacific category; and Tinariwen's Amassakoul has been selcted as a finalist in the World Music-Africa category. The selection process was both heartening and difficult: we were privileged to experience multitudes of outstanding CDs, but were only able to award recognition to the top 42 (3 CDs in each of 14 categories), plus Songs of Note, which recognizes 10 outstanding songs from CDs not among the finalists.
We have listed the finalists on our website at www.indieacoustic.com, and will be sending out press releases announcing the finalists within a week. The winners in each category will be selected and announced by April 14, and award certificates will be mailed by June 1st.
Please know that regardless of which CD is eventually selected as the "winner" in each category, the 42 CDs selected as finalists (yours among them) constitute the very best acoustic music released in the past year. It is the official opinion of the IAP that each of the finalist CDs is (you may quote us on this) one of the best CDs of 2004.
Let us know if you would like us to add any additional contact information (alternative email addresses, websites, or phone numbers). Thank you for your outstanding work and your contribution to the worlds arts and culture.
