Darko Rundek known for his role in Yugoslavian cult band Haustor joined forces with Cargo Orkestar to produce a tremendous Balkan-influenced folk album. “Kuba” has a feature video on the enhanced portion of the CD and its great bass line is complemented nicely with the Croatian lyrics. Eclectic Eastern European music instruments are featured on the album including the bandoneon, zither, tarabuka, ghitak, daff, rik, melodika, harmonium, violonchello, quatro, as well as more established instrumentation by double bass, clarinet, percussion, violin, guitar, synthesizer, organ, djembe, saxophone, and even features a string quartet. The songs are an eye-opening into the trials and travails of immigration and cosmopolitan influences in Balkan traditional music. Absolutely breathtaking. 08/08/04 >> go there
