The exploitation of Cuban music via Buena Vista Social Club has had various effects. While it saturated the market with every tradition-based album imaginable, it opened a channel for new artists to walk through. One of the most deserved of international recognition is Yusa, whose self-titled debut on Tumi Music is an acoustic songwriter's dream. Schooled on the guitar, piano, bass, and tres guitar, Yusa's voice trembles with quiet rage, soft and delicate yet braised with fire. Gaining acclaim worldwide, hypnotizing audiences with rare tenderness, this is one export worthy of the Cuban legacy.
